LASER-INDUCED DAMAGE THRESHOLD (LIDT) TESTING

Laser Damage Testing is available in CW (continuous wave) – Nanosecond – Picosecond – Femtosecond pulse regimes, from IR to UV spectral range in Air or Vacuum. LIDARIS offers standard (ISO-21254) tests such as S-on-1, 1-on-1, and ISO Certification/Acceptance. Additionally, functional LIDT tests such as R-on-1 and raster scan or custom LIDT testing procedures are available.

ABSORPTION TESTING AT PPM LEVEL WITH PCI

Photothermal Common-path Interferometry (PCI) is probably the most popular option for the characterization of low-loss optical absorptance of dielectric coatings at ppm level. It is a spatially resolved pump-probe technique. The standard measurement pack includes three test procedures: Transverse scan (T-Scan); longitudinal scan (L-scan) through the depth of the transparent sample and Time-scan – absorption is monitored at one site for 10 minutes. Testing is available from IR to UV spectral range.

OPTICS LIFETIME TEST

Typical LIDT testing usually is limited to irradiations lasting only a few seconds or minutes. To match
real-life application requirements (such as years of uninterrupted laser operation) much longer testing
is needed. At LIDARIS we perform extended testing based on the S-on-1 test approach and employ novel statistical analysis techniques to estimate the lifetime of optical components by characterization and prediction of optical fatigue behavior.

TEST BUNDLES AND PACKAGES FOR OTPICS CHARACTERIZATION

Sometimes more than one test is necessary in order to characterize laser optics in terms of laser-induced damage performance. We suggest a unique opportunity to order test packages, which address various practical needs. LIDT tests can be also combined with low-loss absorptance (PCI) tests.
